A complete knapped lithic implement of Neolithic date, circa 4000 - 2300 BC. The implement is a scraper formed from a tertiary flake which is sub-ovate in shape and D-shaped in section. The ventral surface is fairly smooth with a bulbar scar. The dorsal surface displays three long removals with abrupt, short and parallel retouch along the distal edge and into both sides forming the scraping surface. The flint is a mid-white colour. The implement is 37.2mm long, 22.6mm wide, 5.6mm thick and weighs 5.3g. Scrapers are fairly ubiquitous throughout prehistory and are generally less c…

A complete knapped lithic implement of late Neolithic to early Bronze Age date, circa 2700BC- 1600BC. The implement is a knife formed from a secondary flake which is ovate in plan and plano-convex in section. The ventral surface is smooth with visible ripples of percussion. The dorsal surface retains approximately 95% cortex. The left edge displays short, abrupt, parallel retouch. The flint is a dark grey/black colour. The implement is 41.3mm long, 14.9mm wide, 8.5mm thick and weighs 4.3g.

The implement is a plano-convex knife formed from a secondary flake which is ovate in plan and D-shaped in section. The ventral surface is smooth with a visible bulbar scar and bulb of percussion. The dorsal surface retains approximately 50% cortex along the right side. The left side has been extensively worked and displays semi-abrupt, invasive, scaled retouch along the edge The flint is a dark grey/black colour. The implement is 45.3mm long, 17.3mm wide, 7.3mm thick and weighs 7.6g.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete knapped lithic implement of Neolithic date, circa 4000 - 2300 BC. The implement is a blade formed from a tertiary flake which is rectangular in plan with a D-shaped section. As its length is more than twice the width and the sides are more or less parallel, it is identifiable as a blade. A bulb of percussion remains along with radiating ripples. Semi-abrupt, short, parallel retouch is present along the left edge. The flint is a mid-grey colour. The implement is 57.8mm long, 25.5mm wide, 8.5mm thick and weighs 12.8g. A complete knapped lithic implement of Neolithic date, circa 4000 - 2300 BC. The implement is an end scraper formed from a tertiary flake which is ovate in plan and D-shaped in section. The ventral surface is smooth with a bulbar scar and prominent ripples of percussion suggesting the hard hammer technique was used in its removal. The dorsal surface is irregular with crossed-abrupt, short and sub-parallel retouch along the distal edge forming the scraping surface. The left edge also displays abrupt, short, parallel retouch and may have functioned as blade. The flint is a mid-grey c…
