The fragment is a pinkish/beige colour. The fragment may have been used as a rubber or muller. Such adventitious use of local erratics from glacial drift is characteristic of periods from Prehistory to the Anglo-Scandinavian period, whereafter imported stones were favoured for such uses. A flint 'thumbnail' scraper of Neolithic date circa 4000 - 2350 BC. The scraper is struck from a tertiary flake and retains no cortex. The dorsal face exhibits short, scaled, low angle retouch around the distal end and down each mesal edge. It has one negative flake scar from previous flake removal. A small striking platform is present at the proximal end. The bulb of percussion has been removed. The flint is light to mid grey in colour. The scraper measures 22.73mm in length, 20.55mm in width, 3.31mm in thickness and weighs 2.57g
