A rim sherd of a late Iron Age / Roman calcite gritted and shell tempered storage vessel. The vessel was probably originally ca 70cm in diameter at the rim, thick bodied and roughly made. The rim curves in from the shoulde of the vessel, and then curls round and back on itself, giving a deep narrow groove below the rim. The sherd is plain beoth inside and out. The shell and grit are plainly visible not just in the breaks but also in the body faces. The sherd is quite abraded and the breaks are no longer sharp.
