Copper alloy finger ring, probably medieval in date. The outside surface of the ring is decorated with lines which make a zig-zag pattern and a dot in each triangle. The inside surface is plain and smooth. It is D-shaped in section. The ring has been cast but the decoration appears to have been added after casting. Cast copper alloy finger rings were found in London dating to the medieval period (Egan and Pritchard; 1991; 331-2).

A cast copper-alloy strap end of the Early Medieval period. A Thomas type A strap end dating to the 8th-11th centuries. The strap end is corroded to an extent that most decoration is obscured. However, two rivet holes are visible on the upper face at the split end and the mouse head terminal retains a little detail. The basic outline of the central panel is also visible, as well as a beast's leg in the panel. The back is undecorated. The split end is infilled by corrosion and soil.

A ground stone axe head of possible prehistoric date. The axe is made of a fine siltstone and is sub-triangular in profile with a gentle arcing. The chopping edge is bevelled from smooth vertical sides to form a relatively straight edge. The opposite end at the triangular apex is rounded. There is bevelling where the sides meet the top of the axe. All faces are smooth. There is no evidence of wear or attachment. The shape is not typical of prehistoric ground stone axes in Northern England, so this may date to a later period.

A copper alloy disc of a later Early Medieval ansate brooch. The object is a disc from one end of an ansate brooch with one decorated face. The decoration consists of cells which would originally have been infilled with enamel/glass/coloured paste. Corrosion within the cells suggests some colour differentiation. There is no obvious organisation of the cells other than that they follow a circular pattern with a cross in the centre. The underside is undecorated and has a corroded lug. The brooch's head is sub-circular in plan. The bow is curving with a debased acanthus moulding at the mid-point. The rest of the bow has broken off beside the acanthus moulding. Cast copper alloy two piece buckle of later post-medieval date (1660 - 1720). The frame of the buckle is sub-rectangular in plan (rectangular with rounded corners), and bowed in profile. The frame has been drilled to allow for a central iron axis bar through which the pin and strap-end would be fixed. The frame is oval with an offset bar and a central external lip with a notch for the pin. The front is convex and the back is flat. The pin is wrapped around the central bar and tapers to a point. A small portion of the sheet plate survives in situ. Similar buckles can be seen in Egan and Pritchard's 'Dress Accessories', pp. 74-5, nos. 306-9.

It measures 56.3mm by 31.9mm by 7.6mm and weighs 15.7g. Hammers and arms/hands (often with clenched fist or holding scrolls) are quite common forms for pipe tampers, but this example is unusual in that it combines both.

Cast copper alloy seal matrix finger ring external diameter 26mm, internal diameter 22mm, thickness 4mm, weight 7.24g. Oval bezel with a Lombardic letter T engraved in the centre, there is a crown above the letter and a brand or ear of corn to the right, all of which is held within a linear border. The shoulders are plain and gently narrow towards the oval cross-section loop. The overall condition of the ring is good with the artefact retaining a mid green patina, there is slight corrosion in the recesses of the letter. This artefact dates to the 14th century.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester Dolphin brooch, dating to the 1st/ 2nd century, between AD 43 - 200 (length: 38.5mm; width at wings: 21.5mm; thickness/ depth: 15mm; weight: 8.9g). The brooch is T-shaped in plan and most D-shaped in section. The semi-cylindrical wings (length of wing at either side of head: 5.5mm) are undecorated with the iron axis bar visible at either side. Ceramic spindle whorl diameter 31mm, height 17mm, weight 14.23g. The artefact is conical shaped with slightly convex sides, there are four concentric lines on the top surface and two on the underside. 10mm in diameter in the centre, light grey fabric. The ceramic used for the spindle whorl is similar to the fabric of grey were vessels from the Roman Period, therefore a roman date is ascribed.

An incomplete cast copper rowel spur of probable seventeenth century date. The end of one arm and the rowel are missing and in its current state the spur measures 120.6mm by 67.3mm by 12.7mm and weighs 71.4g. The surviving terminal is in the form of a figure-eight, with one corrosion filled loop in line with the arm and the second set perpendicular. Cast copper alloy terret ring length 64mm, width 25mm, thickness 16mm, weight 32.98g. The attachment bar appears to have been squared in cross-section but is truncated at the base of the frame. Separating the attachment bar from the frame is a lagged semicircular collar.
