The seal carries the name of the Quality Control Officer responsible for grading the bundle of hemp or flax and this name is encountered on only one other seal (from Fife, and which is at present somewhere in the accessioning process in Kirkcaldy Museum). Copper alloy finger ring, probably medieval in date. The outside surface of the ring is decorated with lines which make a zig-zag pattern and a dot in each triangle. The inside surface is plain and smooth. It is D-shaped in section. The ring has been cast but the decoration appears to have been added after casting. Cast copper alloy finger rings were found in London dating to the medieval period (Egan and Pritchard; 1991; 331-2).

A cast copper-alloy strap end of the Early Medieval period. A Thomas type A strap end dating to the 8th-11th centuries. The strap end is corroded to an extent that most decoration is obscured. However, two rivet holes are visible on the upper face at the split end and the mouse head terminal retains a little detail. The basic outline of the central panel is also visible, as well as a beast's leg in the panel. The back is undecorated. The split end is infilled by corrosion and soil.

A ground stone axe head of possible prehistoric date. The axe is made of a fine siltstone and is sub-triangular in profile with a gentle arcing. The chopping edge is bevelled from smooth vertical sides to form a relatively straight edge. The opposite end at the triangular apex is rounded. There is bevelling where the sides meet the top of the axe. All faces are smooth. There is no evidence of wear or attachment. The shape is not typical of prehistoric ground stone axes in Northern England, so this may date to a later period.

A copper alloy disc of a later Early Medieval ansate brooch. The object is a disc from one end of an ansate brooch with one decorated face. The decoration consists of cells which would originally have been infilled with enamel/glass/coloured paste. Corrosion within the cells suggests some colour differentiation. Cast copper alloy terret ring length 64mm, width 25mm, thickness 16mm, weight 32.98g. The attachment bar appears to have been squared in cross-section but is truncated at the base of the frame. Separating the attachment bar from the frame is a lagged semicircular collar.
