A fragment of a copper-alloy Ansate brooch dating to 700-1000AD.  All that remains is a flattened circular terminal with incised circular border that contains a cross-shaped motif. It is encrusted with iron corrosion, and to the reverse has the remains of an iron pin. The fragment is rectangular in cross section and sub-rectangular in plan narrowing from a transverse break (13.4mm wdie) to a slighly rounded terminal (c. 8.2mm wide). There is a slighty curved aperture at the break suggesting there may have been a circular hole here at one point. The object has a medium green patina. The fragment is 23.1mm long, 13.4mm wide, 4.8mm thick and weighs 8.19 grams.
