An incomplete cast lead-alloy medieval ampulla. The surviving rounded base section of the ampulla is incomplete along the bottom and has only one integral triangular loop on the side. The top half of the ampulla is missing. One face of the ampulla is decorated with a crown with a circle below it containing the long arrow of the cult of Our Lady of Walsingham. Cast globular or bun-shaped whorl with opposed flat sides and with a slightly off-centre square moulded aperture of c.8mm square; patinated, with a cut by the hole on one side which might represent a tying notch. Almost plain tubular wings - there is a thin wavy oblique moulding on the front of the wings on either side – clenched behind retain an axis bar and the stub of a pin. The bow, of indented rectangular section, clasps the wings and bears three pronounced longitudinal ridges separated by deep gutters; the bow tapers towards the foot [lost].
