Cloudy mid grey flint scraper. Flint flake with knapping scars showing hard hammer removal of three long flakes from the dorsal surface at one end, and a bulb of percussion on the ventral surface at the other end, arising from the subsequent detaching of this flake from a core. This provided an oval blank of angular plano-convex profile. The striking platform from initial flake removal was then modified by pressure flaking to create an end scraper. The confident removal of long flakes suggests a Neolithic date. Suggested date: Neolithic, 3500-2100 BC. Length: 43.21mm, Width: 27.4…

Cloudy brown flint or chert of lower quality, with cortex across one face Scraper (identified by finder). A broad flat flake from the outside of a core, with hammer working from that (dorsal) side, producing a ragged edge around the tool. More limited zones of pressure flaking from the same side produced a more stable edge in a shallow cut-out zone along the edge, and pressure flaking from both sides has sharpened a further two limited zones. The overall impression is of a skilled worker investing the minimum necessary effort. Suggested date: Neolithic, 3500-2100BC. L…

Mid grey flint with cortex on one side, patinated on the other. Possible Scraper (identified by finder). A thumbnail scraper probably made from a naturally-formed pot-lid flake; cortex appears on one side, and patination on the ventral surface. The patina is interrupted by light, possibly pressure-flaked, retouch of about half the edge of flake, on the ventral surface only. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2150-1500 BC. Length: 29.13mm, Width: 22.61mm, Thickness: 7.52mm, Weight: 5.7gms.

Dark grey (outer) and pale brown (inner) flint with cortex Possible scraper. A sub-triangular flint chip with hard hammer retouch along one edge and (probably) on the striking platform. More angular fractures of the paler part of the flint are probably natural or post-depositional damage, and appear to interrupt the reworked edge. Suggested date: Early to Middle Bronze Age, 2150-1150 BC. Length: 51.1mm, Width: 39.5mm, Thickness: 22.7mm, Weight: 36.16gms.

Grey Flint, cloudy grey patinated surface disrupted by retouch. Scraper. A triangular-section oval flake, perhaps part of a longer blade detached by hard hammer working, with subsequent pressure-flaked retouch extending all around its edges. White patinated flint, formerly dark grey. Scraper fragment. Knapped thumbnail scraper with bulb of percussion, pressure flaked along its edge from the dorsal side only. The dense white patina extends across all surfaces including a break which post-dates manufacture and (presumably) use, so this object was unequivocally broken as well as made in antiquity. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2150-1500 BC. Length: 27.0mm, Width: 19.5mm, Thickness: 8.9mm, Weight: 5.05gms.

Dark grey flint of good quality, translucent at its thinner edges. Scraper. Flake showing flake removal on its dorsal side, ripples on its ventral side from hard hammer working, and pressure flaking mainly on the dorsal side, at one end. Further damage along one side may be later damage rather than working. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2150-1500 BC. Length: 32.2mm, Width: 24.6mm, Thickness: 8.5mm, Weight: 6.92gms.
