Roman copper alloy Polden Hill booch fragment. The crest of the head is quite rounded and the bow tapers to a point at the end, although no foot remains. The hinged pin, catchplate and pin mechanism are all missing. The brooch is quite corroded all over but it is quite likely that this brooch would have been plain anyway.

An incomplete cast copper alloy and gilded strap fitting in the form of a belt hanger of Medieval date (AD 1400 - AD 1500). Length 55.6mm, maximum thickness 11.0mm. Weight 19.42g. The object comprises a terminal in the form of an animal's head (possibly that of hound) and an integral curving shaft, the end of which formed a loop through which a belt or strap could be threaded. A silver Radiate of Volusian; PIETAS AVGG reverse type; Rome mint; AD 253; RIC no. 182 (H. Mattingly et al.; 1949; p. 179). The obverse is in excellent condition, with little wear or corrosion; the reverse is slightly worn. The coin measures 21.1mm in diameter, 1.9mm thick and weighs 3.37g.

An almost complete copper alloy strap mount in the form of an acorn. Probably seventeenth century (AD 1600 - AD 1700). Length 37.6mm, width 22.1mm and 3.7mm thick. Weight 7.38g.
The mount is convex at the front and concave at the rear. At the front the seed (or fruit) is plain and has a small knop at the apex. The junction between the seed and the cupola is defined by a transverse rib which has a depth of 2.1mm. The cupola appears to be undecorated. The cupolas on similar acorn mounts are sometimes decorated with low relief cross-hatching. However, on this severely corroded example…
