Stamped incomplete silver book binding or bar mount in the shape of a sword, with a 'pommel' and 'hilt', in plan, and flat in profile. There are two tiny rivets inside the bifid 'hilt' section and an etched pair of initials 'L' 'I' with oblique lines filling in the interiors of the letters. These are incomplete and trimmed at either edge, suggesting that this piece might have been cut from a larger piece with more lettering on it. An incomplete cast copper alloy book clasp of Post-Medieval, sixteenth or seventeenth century date (AD 1500 – AD 1700). Length 39.2mm, width 19.0mm and 1.6mm thick. Weight 6.19g. The clasp has been formed from a single plate of copper alloy which is sub-rectangular in plan with almost parallel sides. At one end there is a centrally placed integral hook which is turned downwards and is rectangular in plan when viewed from above. A complete sheet copper alloy hooked object, possibly a book clasp of Post-Medieval or Modern date (AD 1700 - AD 1850). Length 50.2mm, width 43.0mm and 0.9mm thick. Weight 6.55g. The object is cruciform in plan three of the arms have tri-lobed terminals with a single rivet hole in the centre of each. The third arm is longer and parallel sided. This part also has a similar rivet hole and is bent rearwards through 180° to form a clip. The extreme end of the clip narrows and then points to the rear. A copper-alloy book clasp of medieval date (late14th or early 15th century). The object is formed of a single sheet of copper alloy folded round on itself at the terminal to meet at the attachment end. It has been cut so that three main sections are formed: a sub-square element at the attachment end, a circular element below, and a protruding terminal which is sub-rectangular in plan and looped in profile. An almost complete sheet copper alloy and gilded book fitting of Post-Medieval date, probably sixteenth or seventeenth century (AD 1500 – AD 1700). A slightly corroded copper-alloy cruciform mount, probably from a book, of medieval date. It has a domed central boss which sits at the centre of a roughly lozenge-shaped panel. Each of the four cross arms are of equal length and design, having a tri-lobed terminal perforated with a circular rivet hole. Incised lines extend around the mount's perimeter and a pair of shorter, transverse lines separate the arm from its terminal. An incomplete cast copper alloy loop from a two piece book clasp of Medieval date (c. AD 1350 - c. AD 1450). Length: 32.5mm; width: 18.0mm and 7.2mm thick. Weight: 10.49g. The recessed plate that secured the strap is missing. The loop consists of three integral elements, two outward projecting lugs, a body and a terminal. The lugs, sub-rectangular in cross-section, are incomplete due to old breaks.
