A fragment of a coarseware vessel of Medieval date (c. AD 1200 - c. AD 1400). Length: 96.0mm; width: 71.0mm and 8.4mm thick. Weight: 119.28g. The fabric is a mid-buff colour and is tempered with what appears to be crushed flint. The fragment consists of a portion of the rim, the neck and the body. The rim and neck are together slightly everted and the body flares outwards abruptly from the neck. A fragment of a ceramic vessel of probable Iron Age date (800 BC - AD 43). Length: 19.0mm; width: 28.0mm and 11.0mm thick. Weight: 5.87g. This undecorated fragment is part of the rim and is sparsely tempered with relatively large pieces of whitish angular flint. The coarse surface is a brown (Munsell Color 7.5YR 5/4). There is insufficient rim to enable the diameter of the vessel to be estimated. The fragment is in a stable condition and has fresh breaks.

A fragment of a Portchester Ware ceramic vessel of Late Saxon or Early Medieval date (c. AD 950 – AD 1100). Outer rim diameter (when complete): c. 135.0mm. Weight: 126.88g. This coarse-ware fragment is part of the rim and part of the body. The core of the fabric is dark grey/black and the outer surface is a lighter colour varying from light grey to dark grey. A small rim fragment of a Roman Samian ware dish (c. AD 150 – c. AD 200). Length: 37.0mm; width: 9.5mm and 10.1mm thick. Weight: 2.79g. This fragment, with a red slip, has an upturned rim and in form is similar to a Ludowici Tg (Central Gaulish) type dish as illustrated (Hartley 1970. ‘Roman Samian Ware’. 246, fig. 77). The breaks are old and abraded.
