An incomplete cast copper alloy La Tene II Iron Age Brooch. The brooch is truncated at one end of the bow and the attachment mechanism is missing. The surviving part of the openwork bow is heart shaped and consists of two conjoined loops that each terminates with a circular setting. Although only the white paste of the setting survives, it may have originally been coral. The integral rectangular sectioned foot tapers from the bow and is cast in a loop to join the front of the bow at the base of the openwork heart. The foot also terminates with the same circular setting that can be seen…

Stone: Moderately compacted sandstone with occasional black flecks, perhaps from Coal Measures (non-specialist identification by MF).
Beehive Quern top stone. Carved plano-convex top stone fragment from a beehive quern; about one half of the stone remains, having broken across the feeder hole and, apparently, two handle holes - one presumably replaced the other. The top of stone has been flattened, albeit at an eccentric angle to the lower flat working surface.
A broad hopper of estimated diameter 110mm narrows to meet the lower part of an hour-glass shaped feeder chan…

Copper alloy possible brooch fragment. Cast terminal, possibly from a Pennanular Brooch, comprising part of a massy round section band of diameter 8.8mm and a ball terminal of diameter 13mm, apparently uncollared. If this identification is sustained, this could be a simple example of Fowler's Class A. Alternatively, this may be from a bangle, bracelet or neck ring decorated according to similar conventions. A deep honey-coloured patina is disrupted by more recent abrasion and corrosion, and the band may have been bent into a more sharply curved form than as was originally made. Sugges…
