An incomplete silvered copper-alloy coin. The remaining detail on this coin suggests it may be a contemporary forgery of an Elizabeth I sixpence. The size corresponds to the Third issue, Large Flan coin of 1561.
The coin is heavily worn on the obverse and slightly worn on the reverse. Only a small amount of the thin silver coating survives. The coin measures 28.1mm in diameter, 0.8mm thick and weighs 2.38g.

A silver half groat of Elizabeth I (1558-1603). The coin has been bent in half, perhaps deliberately, making close identification of the obverse impossible. This probably belongs to Elizabeth's first or second silver coinages and therefore c.1558-1572. See North, 1975: nos. 1987, 1999.

A cast, copper alloy, coin weight of early post-medieval date, probably dating from 1530-1600AD. It is square and double sided. One side carries the device of a crowned rose and the other that of a hand within a wreath. These markings suggest that it was of Continental manufacture, the hand being the mark for Antwerp in the Low Countries, and that it was used to weigh the gold crowns issued during the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I between 1526 and 1548. It is 15.21mm square and weighs 3.35g. Note: This find was recorded from an export licence. Similar examples are illustrated i…

Halfgroat of Elizabeth I probably a contemporary forgery as the obverse reads POSVI [DEV ADIVTOREM MEV] and the mint mark is bell. However, mm bell was used in 1582/3-83, but all the smaller denominations have CIVITAS LONDON on the reverse and EDG ROSA SINE SPINA on the obverse. The diameter is 17mm.
