Silver groat of Elizabeth I dating 1560-1561AD with a cross-crosslet initial mark, indicating it was minted at Thomas Stanley's London mint in the Tower. The coin has been folded in half in antiquity so only the reverse is visible. This has a squared shield on long cross fourchée dividing the legend which reads POSVI DE[U A]DIVTOREM MEV. Diameter: 22.9mm; weight: 1.84g
