I have examined a coin reported found at Middle Rasen, Lincolnshire. It is a silver penny of King Charles I. It will therefore be of good silver, over 90% fine metal. The initial mark on the coin, which dates it, is not legible, but it was issued within the years c. 1632-4. Single coins are not normally eligible for consideration as Treasure under the terms of the Treasure Act, but coins removed from currency by conversion into jewellery or other decorative function are so eligible.
