A silver half penny of Elizabeth I. Initial Mark: Escallop (1584-1587). The coin has been clipped to remove some of the inner beadings present around the edges of the coin. It has further been pierced in two places (at 11 oclock and 6 o'clock on the obverse) - it seems as if the upper piercing has been achieved to deliberately avoid the initial mark being place adjacent / in line horizontally with it rather t han through it.
