Approximately 40% of the coin survives but the surface is much pitted and damaged making identification problematic.  Measurements: 19.1mm diameter, weight 0.61g.

Postmedieval silver coin. Elizabeth I (1558-1603 AD) silver groat. The coin is very worn. On the obverse it is just possible to see part of the ruff worn by Elizabeth I on the bust facing left. Around the circumference of the obverse is the lettering 'ELIZ'. On the reverse it is possible to see the top of a square topped coat of arms, without date. There is a cross crosslet mint mark on the obverse, therefore the coin can be dated to 1560-1561 AD. Spink number 2556; North number 1986.
