This coin has an incised six-pointed star mark off centre on the obverse, plus what appear to be several punch marks on the reverse.

Description: A post medieval silver shilling of Elizabeth I (1558-1603), third coinage, dating to AD 1584 -1587. Escallop initial mark. Minted at the Tower of London. There is a pierced hole, circular in shape, which is positioned at the 12 o’clock of the reverse. The obverse is noticeably scratched, while the reverse is unmarked.
Dimensions: The coin is 31.2mm in diameter, 1.0mm thick and weighs 5.47g. The hole is 2.0mm in diameter.
