A post-medieval silver threepence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603), second coinage (1561-82; North 1998), dated 1563 (1562 overstamped). Minted in London, initial mark (obverse and reverse): pheon (1561-5). Ref: North 1991: 135. There is a line across the centre of coin (from c.9 o'clock to 3 o'clock on the obverse) indicating that the coin was once folded, with the obverse on the inside.
