An Elizabeth I silver sixpence, fifth issue, c. AD 1591 - 1594. A silver hammered sixpence of Elizabeth I, 1558-1603. Obverse shows a crowned bust left with rose behind head. Obverse legend reads ELIZAB[D G ANG FR ET]HIB REGI. Reverse shows solid long cross fourchee with royal shield, 15[9]6 above. The third digit above the shield is quite worn but seems to have the tail of a number 9. If the date is 1596 the initial mark should be a woolpack. The area of the initial mark on the obverse is worn but the slightly visible mark in the area of the initial mark could fit with the shape of a woolpack.
