A copper alloy Roman coin; a nummus of Gratian (AD 367-383), dating from about AD 367-375 (Reece Period 19). Reverse type: GLORIA NOVI SAECVLI. Mint of Arles. Probably RIC IX, p. 66, no. 15. The coin is unusual in having a serrated edge. It is unclear whether the notches are purposeful, proof of reuse or are unusually tidy damage. The coin is 16.6mm diameter, 1.8mm thick and 2.15g.
