The obverse legend and type - CONSTANTI - NVS MAX AVG, Rosette-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right - is only recorded in RIC for one known coin of this type with mintmark RS. A copper alloy nummus of Constantine I (AD 306-37), D N CONSTANTINI MAX AVG, VOT XXX, Arles, c. AD 328. The mintmark: SF.ARP is unpublished. cf. RIC VII p. 268: the coin falls between the S F//ARLP and S F//CONST issues. It does suggest that Arles was not renamed Constantia until 329 and that this was the last issue before the mint changed its name.
