A Roman copper-alloy radiate of Carausius, dating to AD 286 - 293 (Reece Period 14). RESTI[T]VT SAECV, reverse type shows Carausius standing left, holding globe and spear, being crowned by Victory, standing left, holding palm over left shoulder. No mint mark. RIC V, pt 2, p. 540, cf. no. 969, Four coins of this type with reverse legend RESTIT SAECVL are recording for the new RIC for Carausius. One is in the Hunter Cabinet in Glasgow (no. 157). It is just possible that there is an obscured L after SAECV, but this is still a new variant nevertheless. Diameter: 22.78 mm Weight: 3.20…
