This is a new variant. The obverse legend AVGGG CVM DIOCLETIANO with the same obverse type is in the Ashmolean Museum. It has a PAX AVGGG reverse. This CONCORDI AVGGG reverse appears to die-link to a coin in the BM (BM: 1996,1201.1) with the obverse legend AVGVSTIS CVM DIOCLETIANO. Therefore, this coin was probably struck at the same time, but has the variant obverse legend ending in P. These coins assert Carausius' position as Augustus alongside Diocletian, but it is unlikely Diocletian would have appreciated this!212128629313PUBLIC2020-08-07T00:00:00Zwith finder2020-08-08T10:51:46Z2023-09-11T13:27:32Z4.5PAS5F2E75B20019DB232.5177142614142117765HampshireHampshireRestricted Access8PUBLIC-E7985A883826Jugate busts of Carausius, Maximian, and Diocletian radiate and cuirassed rightAVG[G]G CVM DIOCLETIANO (P)Concordia standing right, clasping hands with the emperor standing left.CONCORDI AVGGG14-//(S)P(C)C mint (Uncertain, England)x108784Radiate (antoninianus)CarausiuscarausiusCarausius232298846Copper alloy10627Copper alloy10627Struck or hammeredCompleteRequiring conservationROMANx41218ROMANx41218x41218Metal detectorReturned to finder117342488_611603966166152_7938699016403387695_n.jpg1111648images/coinhunteruk/South EastCertain12023-09-11T12:27:32.122ZRestricted Accessfinds-11236711123671SWYOR-0F15CCCOINROMANA copper alloy Roman coin; a Q radiate of Allectus dating from AD 293 - 296 (Reece period 14).
