A complete cast lead flat non-heraldic personal seal matrix of medieval date (c.AD 1200-1350).
Description: The matrix is flat and sub-circular in plan with projecting lug. On the reverse is a voided cross formed in relief. On the front is an engraved central eight-pointed star or flower. This is surrounded by a legend which starts at twelve o'clock and runs retrograde (anti-clockwise) around the matrix. The inscription reads "+S' IOH[I]S FIL' ROBE'". This translates as 'Seal of John, son of Robert'. The seal matrix is an off white colour and is slightly squahed at the lug.
Measurements: diameter: 24.9mm; thickness: 7.9mm; weight: 9.72g
Discussion: This matrix fits with a group of commonly reported simple lead personal seal matrices dating to the 13th - mid 14th, such as KENT-756138. This group of relatively simple non-heraldic designs and crude personal inscriptions belong to the 13th- early 14th century (Harvey and McGuinness 1996. 79-80).

The front of the mount is moulded with a broad, bevelled border and a plain cross saltire, dividing it into four lozenges, each with a central, circular repoussé pellet. The field round each pellet has the remains of blue enamel. In the centre of the cross is a circular piercing to accept a rivet which is now missing. The mount has a rough, dark brown patina and there are tiny specks of gilding on the raised borders. It is 22.7mm, long, 23.0mm wide and 3.8mm thick. It weighs 3.16g. A complete cast lead-alloy and iron mount of post-medieval date (c.1600 - 1900).
Description: The mount is circular in plan with moulded relief decoration in the form of a lion's head surrounded by its mane. The reverse is flat with the remnants of iron pins or studs and embedded into it. One of these projects through the front of the mount.
Measurements: diameter: 29.1mm; thickness: 12.4mm; weight: 33.26g
Discussion: A number of similar objects are recorded on the database e.g: LIN-66994E, LVPL-F93881 and YORYM-0E94A7. Many of these are fairly crudely made and variably worn, some looking very recent. As yet, their function is uncertain but may be harness mounts of some description. Until conclusive evidence of the use and date of this type of mount it should be considered prelimanary.

These coins are types which are likely to have circulated together in the 1st century AD and been subsequently hoarded. A third silver coin, a denarius of Nero (YORYM-1AA93D) was also found in the same area – all three being within 50m of one another – and may have been associated with the group though was a single find at time of discovery and therefore fell outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
Conclusion:
In terms of age and as the find contains more than two precious metal coins it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

Undecorated medieval copper-alloy annular brooch with the tip of the pin missing. The frame is circular and also circular in cross-section. It has a stepped-down constriction to accommodate the loop of the pin, which fits snugly and rotates freely. On each side of the constriction the frame is very slightly thicker than elsewhere. It tapers gradually from here in both directions over a short distance (about 45 degrees on each side) before becoming uniform in thickness throughout the rest of the hoop.
The loop of the pin appears to be attached to the frame by closing a gap at the rear; there is a very small trace of a groove there, largely obscured by combination of surface abrasion and corrosion, which is probably the closed gap.
At the junction between the loop and the shaft there is a narrow collar. The shaft is oval in cross-section, it tapers gradually in width but not in thickness from the loop to the break, which is not recent and which occurs at approximately 5mm from the inside edge of the frame opposite.
The surfaces of both frame and pin are patinated dark green and are quiet heavily abraded or corroded.

External diameter: 25.7mm. Internal diameter: 19.7mm. Thickness of frame (near pin loop): 3.2mm, (opposite pin loop): 2.5mm. Thickness of pin: 1.7mm Width of pin (at loop): 2.9mm, (near break): 1.7mm. Total weight: 2.9g

A cast copper-alloy token of uncertain date, possibly medieval (c.AD1000-1500).
The obverse has what appears to be a broken square design at its centre, enclosed by a rasied rim running around the edge of the token. The reverse is undecorated.
Dimensions: Thickness: 2.89 mm; Weight: 1.9 g; Diameter: 13.02 mm
The possibility that the token could be an Iron age potin was investigated; however, it does not conform to any known type and is very different in appearance. As such it is more likely that the object is some form of medieval token, of a type not yet definitively identified.
