Copper alloy possible finger ring. Cast D-section band, slightly narrowed at one point which, if indeed a finger ring, would be opposite the bezel. The latter, and the rest of the band, is plain. Abraded. The wearing of finger rings was a men’s custom for the Romans, and this band would have to be for a youth or gracile individual if indeed worn on the finger. A complete cast lead alloy Medieval to Post Medieval pendant in the form of a pierced inverted Latin cross dating c. 1100-1700.  The pendant is plain and undecorated with a sub-rectangular cross section. Roman copper alloy probably military harness fitting, a strap slide consisting of a flat oval plate with an integral rectangular loop on the reverse. Roman silver finger ring fragment of Guiraud type 2b. The ring retains only about 50% of the bezel and one shoulder. The bezel would have originally been oval with a recessed oval cell in the centre that would have mounted a glass or stone but which is now missing. Flanking the stone and running along the edge of both sides is a line of stamped annulars that are confined to the bezel. The shoulder is undecorated and narrows to the hoop which is now truncated. This is an addendum to 2012T279 GLO-E86407 and represents the missing second half of the ring.

A medieval cast copper alloy casket key, 37.9mm in length. The bow is lozengiform with a pierced centre, a rounded terminal knop, flanking corner knops on either side and a small ridged collar. The shank has a sub-rectangular cross-section with a hollow end and there is a simple bit which is incomplete but which appears to have had a single cleft. Circa 12th-15th century.

Fragment of an Early Saxon gilt copper alloy Great square-headed brooch, the headplate only, missing the lower part of the inner and second panels, the pin lug and the junction with the bow. All breaks and cracks are quite recent. The frame is decorated with large V-shaped stamped impressions and stamped annulets around the second panel. The latter contains moulded running S-shaped mouldings and straight engraved lines, both horizotnal and vertical. In the inner panel a pair of square apertures flank an engraved rectangle. A cast copper alloy buckle plate of later Roman date (Hawkes and Dunning (1961) type IIB), dating to, c. AD 250 - 400. The plate is rectangular with three rectangular perforations and a rivet hole at each corner. The sides and rear edge have decorative cusped borders. There is a ridge across the front end behind a pierced pin articulation and small bar which retains a copper alloy pin. The integrally cast frame has broken away and been lost.

Two small fragments of a spearhead of possible Middle Bronze Age date. The fragments adhere to one another, although a small area remains missing between the two fragments comprising the cutting edge. A distinct mid-rib runs through the fragments, emphasising their flattened outer flanges which do not show signs of channelling. The cutting edge around the full circumference is worn and damaged. The butt is entirely missing and while the tip fragment appears smooth, there is very likely a further fragment missing comprising the sharp tip for entry to the prey or victim. The fragments to…
