A discoid, cast lead artefact, probably a weight of uncertain date, Medieval to Post-Medieval, or an ingot. It is a circular disc of lead, thicker on one side. The top face is smooth and slightly concave. The sides and base are rougher, probably from being cast in sand. It is 30mm in diameter and 10.7mm thick. It weighs 65.9g. The mass does not easily equate to any standard system of weight measurement, so it is probably a bespoke weight or lead that has been melted into a makeshift ingot for ease of storage. It has a grey patina.

A sub-triangular, cast lead perforated artefact, probably a weight, dating from the Post Medieval period, AD 1600 - 1900. It is flat in profile, and sub-triangular in plan, with curved sides and rounded corners. The edges are bevelled. The reverse is pitted, perhaps from the casting process. The narrow end is perforated with an irregular hole of 3-5mm diameter. The weight is 41.9mm long, 23.9mm wide and 5.9mm thick. It  weighs 36.4g. The mass does not obviously fit into standard units of measurement, but the weight may have been used to add mass, such as a line or net weight.

A spherical, cast lead perforated artefact of unknown date, probably Medieval to Post medieval, AD 1200 - 1800, probably used as a weight. The hole is wider at one end than the other (4.4mm diameter to 2.7mm diameter). It is 14.6mm in diameter and 12.5mm thick. It  weighs 15.5g (0.54oz). It is slightly over mass to be a half ounce weight (which should be 14.1g), though it could be a half ounce in the Apothecaries' system. It is often suggested that objects of this shape are beads or net or line weights for fishing or birding.

An incomplete lead alloy trade weight dating from the Medieval or Post Medieval periods. AD 1280 - 1800. It is shield shaped and the front is decorated with a moulded double fleur design on a raised plinth. The weight has a yellow grey patina with areas of wear. The top edge is probably a cut of patinated sheer break. The top of the fleur design is missing, and the mass is too heavy for a 2 ounce weight and not enough for a 4 ounce weight. It is probably an incomplete 4oz weight. Similar examples can be found in Lead Weights; the David Rogers Collection on page 40 (Biggs and …

A complete lead trade weight of medieval to post-medieval date, about AD 1380 - 1600. The weight is sub-triangular; shield-shaped with rounded edges and corners, having a flat top and sides tapering to a point. The edge is a border round a raised surface which is decorated with a raised moulded design of a crowned fleur de lis. There is a pierced hole at the centre of the top of the shield and two notches, one on either side of the bottom of the shield. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The metal has a mid-grey brown patina and is worn with some scratches on the reverse. T…

A discoid, cast lead weight probably dating from the Medieval or Post-Medieval period, about AD 1280 - 1700. It is circular in plan,  with one flat face and one face that is domed but truncated with a smaller flat face. There is no decoration nor any marks. It is 31.1mm in diameter and 8.7mm thick. It weighs 55g (1.93oz). It has a grey patina. It was probably intended as a two ounce weight in the Imperial, Mercantile or Avoirdupois systems of weight measurement (Egan, 1998, page 302).

A spherical lead probable weight with a hole through the centre, of unknown date, probably Medieval to Post Medieval, AD 1300 - 1800. It is slightly flattened at each end. There is no evidence of an iron hook, but the hole is open and has a perforation of 4.0mm diameter. The weight has a light grey patina and the surface is pitted in places. It is 18.6mm in diameter. It weighs 29.49g. The mass of 29.49g suggests that it is intended as a 1oz weight in either the Mercantile, Tower or Apothecaries systems of measurement. Alternatively it could be a weight threaded int…

A pierced flat lead object, possibly a one ounce perforated weight dating from AD 1250 - 1900. It is sub-circular in plan and plano-convex. There is a fairly central irregularly shaped perforation. The surfaces are uneven. Measurements are; length33.2mm, width 30.0mm, thickness 5.4mm and weight 29.62g. The mass is close to one ounce in the Mercantile system used from before AD 1300 (Egan, 1998, page 302).

A complete lead conical weight of uncertain dating, most probably of Medieval to Post Medieval date circa AD 1280 - 1800. The weight has a steep dome, with rough tapered sides that widen to a flat circular base. It has a circular perforation going through the object, slightly off-centre which is filled with soil.  The mass of 194.39g suggests it was intended a s a half pound weight, in one of the various systems of weight measurement, especially allowing for a missing suspension loop. Dimensions are height 28.7mm, width 35.3mm, diameter of perforation…
