A complete cast Medieval lead weight. The shield-shaped weight has a rectangular hole near the top. On the front is a figure of a lion rampant in relief and the back is plain. Around the edge are three notches, which look as if they were cut by a blow. The length is 38.7mm, the width is 31.1mm, the thickness is 7.7mm and the weight is 55.81g.

The design in the centre is rather worn but is probably a lion rampart. The reverse of the weight is plain. On the flat reverse, fine scratches appear to combine a cross and a saltire (as in the Union Jack). Though of a form distinct from shield-shaped weights bearing the leopards of England, whose quasi-official status is suspected, this object is similar in its mass to smaller members of that class.
