A bell-shaped cast lead weight with a flat circular base of uncertain Roman to Post Medieval date. At the apex of the weight there is an irregular circular indentation. This is probably for attaching the weight. Along the base part of the weight has been broken off and the surface has been heavily scored. There are scratch marks on the base. There is no decoration, and the weight is a grey white colour. The weight is in 30.4mm height, in 28.2mm diameter, and weighs 131g. Lead weights were easy to manufacture and the same types of weights were used for a prolonged span of time; therefo…

A cast lead alloy standing weight, it is sub-conical shape. The weight has a flat oval bottom which narrows into a conical shape. The upper surface has been flattened without a suspension loop. The weight measures 48mm high with the base measuring 20.4mm in diameter and the top 14mm. It weighs 115 grams. The metal is of a dark greyish white in colour. Because standing weights of this type were easy to manufacture and widely produced, they are difficult to date specifically without secure archaeological contexts. It is likely that this example dates from the Medieval to Pos…
