A lead or lead alloy circular flat weight of Medieval to Post Medieval date c. 1280-1700. The flat weight is circular and thick with possible stamped illegible characters on one face with a rough surface. The reverse is smoother with two transverse impressed grooves (probably damage); with a series of incised lines, possibly the shoulders and bust of a helmeted figure facing right. A complete medieval to post medieval lead trade weight dating 1350-1600. The stamp mark consists of a flat topped heraldic shield with a bird advancing right with wings outstretched. A probably lead bullion weight of Medieval date. The weight is circular in plan and had an outward sloping edge. There is a hole through the centre. The top is stamped with a cross pattee, creating a dished edge. The bottom is plain. The mass is 25.15g, which is a few grams short of 20 pennies (1 ounce) in the Tower weight system. Biggs (1995, 12) has suggested similar bullion weights with a cross design were similar to crosses used on coins.

The object is a quarter of an elipsoid (Quarter of an elongated sphere) giving it a shield shaped plan. One radius is slightly longer (13.4mm) than the other (8.8mm).
