The flat weight is circular and thick with possible stamped illegible characters on one face with a rough surface. Lead weight. Cast discoid weight with an uneven upper surface on which appear straight lines moulded in bold relief. The lines may represent two separate arrowhead forms or perhaps an untidy monogram including letter forms resembling M and V. A probably lead bullion weight of Medieval date. The weight is circular in plan and had an outward sloping edge. There is a hole through the centre. The top is stamped with a cross pattee, creating a dished edge. The bottom is plain. The mass is 25.15g, which is a few grams short of 20 pennies (1 ounce) in the Tower weight system. Biggs (1995, 12) has suggested similar bullion weights with a cross design were similar to crosses used on coins.
