Medieval weight; Cast lead weight of bell shape: The weight is essentially a circular cone, although it flares out towards the bottom and is flattened at the top. It has a curved suspension loop at the top, formed from a strap of lead, and is pierced in the centre of the base. The lead has a white patina, of varying thickness. Height 41.3mm, width (“diameter”) 33.4mm, weight 185.3g Lead weights are difficult to date due the…

Post Medieval, copper alloy trade weight? 14mm in diameter and 3mm thick. The weight is in good condition with a green patina and a weight of 2.59grams. The weight is marked with the ewer of the London founders company who issued the weights and has what appears to be a crown minus the monarchs initial? The shape of the weight and the marks fit with the smaller ones issued between 1590 and 1826, but without an initial its not datable.

Lead and copper alloy spherical weight. The spherical body is composed of lead with a copper alloy suspension loop. It is more than possible that this was used as a clapper for a small hand bell, attached via a chain to the bell.

A cast lead tall, domed weight. The weight has a large indentation in its base. The surface of the object is pitted and worn. Due to a lack of excavated examples, it is not possible to date this object very precisely but it is most likely to be post-medieval in date.
