A cast copper-alloy suspension ring, probably from a hanging bowl of early-medieval date. It is circular, with a slightly flattened but circular cross-section. The outer edge of the ring has a groove cut into it. On one surface of the ring there are three sets of bands of parallel incised lines, set at roughly regular intervals around the ring. The object survives in an excellent condition and have a mid greyish-green, smooth and shiny patina. Very similar to PAS database record No: YORYM-05D224, which was found together with an openwork hook-escutcheon from a hanging bowl. Br…

A piece of thin copper alloy sheet, probably a short length of binding strip from an early Anglo-Saxon bucket. The sheet is roughly rectangular in shape, but two opposite edges (the longer edges) are torn and badly damaged. The other edges (the short edges) are decorated with stamps of incised double rings, the stamp probably held at an angle to produce a dot and crescent motif. Two holes have been punched through the plate, one smaller than the other, both off centre. The plate is a mid brownish-green colour.

A cast copper-alloy hooked escutcheon plate and copper-alloy suspension ring from an early-medieval hanging bowl. The escutcheon plate is oval and has an openwork design formed from scrolls. There are three incised, parallel lines down the spine of the escutcheon. At the end of the lines, at one terminal, there is a small rounded lobe. Opposite, on the other terminal there is a large, heavy-duty hook in zoomorphic form, with its terminal possibly representing the head of a lion or a dog. The ears are very obvious, but the other features have been stylised and drawn with inci…

Zoomorphic bucket mount in the form of an animal's head. A circular hole for a rivet are located on the forehead and below the snout. At the top of the head and between the pair of ears is the loop for the handle. Although this record was originally given a date of early-medieval, 410-600 AD, the description sounds much more like that of a late Iron Age or early Roman bucket mount (compare for example SOM-2F31A3) and the date has been changed accordingly.

At this end is a decorative hole formed by three circular holes intercuting each other. Leading back to the main body from one of these circular features is a straight groove 1mm wide and 10mm long. Fragments of the wall of the main body exist and is 1mm thick. The overall condition of the piece is excellent with a stable green patina.
