A fragment of a Medieval to Post Medieval copper-alloy cooking vessel dating to to circa AD 1200-1700. The extant piece is a fragment of the rim probably from a cauldron or posnet. It is rectangular in plan terminating in old breaks at either end. It has a reverted rim. The interior of the vessel is stained with remants of burning.  Butler, Green and Payne (2009:1) mention that cast copper alloy vessels (cauldrons, posnets and later skillets) were widely used for cooking over open fires from around AD 1100, and that the use of these vessels gradually ende…
