Copper alloy Strap Union. Cast sub-rectangular frame accommodating the junction of three straps of 28mm width, probably an item of horse harness. File marks remain within the frame, suggesting this object saw only modest use before its loss or discard. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1700-1900. Length: 52.1mm, Width: 49.6mm, Thickness: 3.9mm, Weight: 27.21gms.

A copper-alloy strap junction of Late Iron Age date, probably for personal use but possibly from a piece of horse equipment. The date for the object may very possibly extend into the early Roman period. The object consists of two central circles, joined as a figure-of-eight. Both circles are perforated with central holes, each approximately 8 mm in diameter. On either side of each circle there is a knop and the two knops on each side are joined by a strap bar. Iron age copper alloy strap junction, 58mm long, 37mm wide and 4mm thick. The object weighs c.50 grams, has a green patina and is complete except for a small chip at one end. The object is diamond shaped with a circle in the centre. This is subdivided into three lentoid shaped recesses, two are filled with red enamel, which surround a central triangle that has a glass like blue/red residue.
