Incomplete and abraded copper alloy strap end of probably medieval date (c. 1300-1400). The object is tongue shaped which is rounded at one end and with the remains of two possible rivet holes at the other. On the outer face at the rivet end of the object, there are four sub-rectangular patches that appear to be the remains of the original surface. On the reverse there is a slight indentation at the rivet end of the object, which may have taken the original strap. The surface of the object is rough with a powdery green patina.

Medieval copper alloy strap end with enamel and gilt decoration, dating c 1200-1400AD.
The stap end is made of a single rectangular strip of metal folded in half lengthways, with slightly rounded corners. There is a single rivet which appears to be cast integrally with the front and then roughly hammered flat after going through the strap and a hole in the back. The back is plain but the front is decorated. There are traces of gilding remaining on the front only.
The decoration on the front comprises a red shield bearing two lions in black, one larger one above a smaller one.

An incomplete early medieval copper alloy strap end dating c750-950AD.
The split attachment end has the remains of two rivets, one at each corner, on the back of the object. Below the rivets is a curved recess. The central part of the strap end is bordered with shallow groove. The central field appears to be undecorated, but it is possible that any original decoration has worn away. The object has a worn zoomorphic terminal.
The reverse of the strap end is flat and undecorated. The surface of the object has a smooth dark green patina.

Incomplete and worn copper alloy object, possibly a zoomorphic strap end dating to the early medieval period (c. AD800-1000).
The object is sub-rectangular in plan and oval in section. There appears to be an animal head at one end of the object, possibly with a rivet through the top of it’s head, above which are two parallel grooves. The rest of the object appears to be undecorated. The surface of the object mostly has a dark green patina with traces of the original surface visible. The rest is rough and pitted.

Leaf shaped copper alloy strap end of possible medieval date (c. 750- 1100AD).
The object is leaf shape in plan with a raised rib running the full length of the object on one side only. The reverse is plain and undecorated. The strap end is split down the side. This would have held the end of the strap. There are three complete rivets holes, and one partial hole, visible near the terminal of the split end.

Incomplete lead alloy socketed, or boxed, zoomorphic strap end of the late medieval to early post medieval period (c. 1375-1525AD). The object has relief moulded decoration on one side representing a stylised animal head featuring rounded ears, eyes and muzzle. The split end appears at the muzzle end. The reverse appears to be plain although there are some raised pellets in a random pattern that may simply be manufacturing flaws. The reverse also has a square-cut slot. The edge opposite the muzzle appears to be broken.

Copper alloy openwork Quoit brooch style (QBS) buckle plate or strap end dating from the late 4th to mid 5th century AD. The plate is highly decorated and finely incised. The top of the plate has three rounded projections. Copper alloy hollow chape for a strap end or book fitting (also known as a 'box chape' of late medieval date or early post-medieval date c. 1300-1600AD. The object is formed from a piece of piece of copper alloy sheet that has been folded into a 'box' shape. The lower edge of the object is broken and with the remnants of what appears to be two possible rivet holes visible. The upper edge is crenelated and there are traces of simple decoration comprising an engraved line.

Incomplete copper alloy hollow plate strap end dating to c1350-1450, sometimes referred to as a "lyre shaped" buckle. It has a sub-rectangular body with two rivet holes. The front of this plate appears to have a deliberate letter n engraved on to it. The plate has a moulded ridge and a narrowed collar that then flares out into the remains of an openwork plate. The reverse is undecorated. The object has a dark green patina. Similar examples have been recorded on the PAS database; see WILT-D27C27, for example.

Fragment of a copper alloy composite strap end with an openwork panel most likely dating to the 15th century (c1400-1500AD). The object has a lyre-shaped terminal with incuse decoration. This is separated from the openwork panel below with a moulded projection.The openwork panel has a trefoil arch and divides into two prongs.The openwork section has incuse decoration. At the top of the openwork panel is a rivet, still in situ, that passes through the object (it is more obvious on the reverse).The back of the object is plain. The object is slightly bent and has a pitted surface.

Copper alloy Hiberno Norse strap end (Thomas Class F) double sided with a perforated roundel dating 9th-10th century and likely to have been produced in Dublin (Thomas pers comm). The object is broadly rectangular but tapers at one end. The decoration comprises a roundel at the tapered end with a circular perforation. Running the length of the object is a panel of interlace.
