An incomplete copper alloy front plate from a medieval composite strap end of c. 15th century date. The plate is crescent-shaped and decorated with symmetrically flanking abstract engraved motifs, possibly degraded zoomorphic forms, surrounded by small recessed hatched fields. From the front of the plate projects a moulded triangular terminal which takes the form of a tree or bush, probably interpretable as a Tree of Life motif, with a central stem and radiating and curling foliage defined by blind holes. A cast copper alloy Early-medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) openwork strap end, probably of Thomas (2004) Class E. The strap end is 'tongue-shaped' being broadly rectangular in plan but having one rounded end; there are several oval cells of openwork spaced around the outside of a moulded central crucifix-shaped design in raised relief, probably representing a figure with outstretched arms. A Medieval copper alloy strap end, Class E, Type 1 Winchester style (10th - 11th century). This strap end is relief-decorated with cast open work that is typical of Winchester style strap ends. It is tongue-shaped with the butt-end rebated for the strap with three rivet holes for attachment. One of the rivet holes is empty the other two are blocked, either with corrosion or the remains of the rivets.
