An incomplete Early Medieval cast copper-alloy strap end, of Thomas Class B, type 4, dating c. AD 900-1100. The strap end comprises broken, open-eneded attachment plates with circular perforations. There is no decoration on this part. The plates are rectangular in shape and in cross-section. They extend into a sub-cylindrical body that tapers to a rounded zoomorphic head. A near complete copper-alloy strap end of medieval date (c.1175-1300).
Description: The object is trapezoid and constructed from a flat sheet folded widthways and decorated on one side with a simple foliate design of two pairs of symmetrical curling tendrils against a textured background. There are two in-situ rivets above which perforate the back half of the sheet. Here, some of the sheet has broken away. The object has a medium green and red-brown mottled patina with traces of gilding.

An incomplete medieval copper alloy composite strap end dating to c. AD 1350- 1400. The object consists of two plates, the forked spacer is now missing. The plates are oval in shape, with a circular shaped aperture on one slightly flattened edge. Either side of the aperture is a circular rivet hole, the rivets are now missing. The plates are slightly convex. There is no decoration on the plates. The strap end has a dark green patina with light patches of green. The plates measure 26.1mm in length, 20.8mm in width, 4.4mm in maximum thickness and weighs 4.19g.

A complete but worn medieval two piece strap end, dating from c. 1400-1450 AD. The strap end is rectangular shape, it narrows to a neck before ending with a trefoil terminal end. There is a circular perforation in the centre of the neck, this goes through both plates. There is a worn break at the attachment edge. The strap end has a mid green patina, and measures 32.9mm in length, 8.7mm in width, and weighs 2.07g.
The construction of the strap end is similar to one shown in Egan and Pritchard 1991, page 133, number 614.

Description: The object remains as the complete forked spacer composed of a U-shaped plate with a rectangular quadruple-collared projection with rounded knopped terminal. A light green copper-alloy rivet remains in-situ at the base of the plate. The rest of the object has a dark grey-green patina and the plate is heavily filed.

A complete cast copper-alloy two-piece strap end dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1200-1400). The strap end is comprised of two conjoined plates that are broadly triangular in shape and taper towards a protruding rounded terminal, and has a forked spacer. A circular sectioned attachment rivet holds the plates together at both ends. The surfaces and rivets have mid-green patination and are generally worn and abraded.
The strap end measures 24mm in length, 12.9mm in maximum width and 2.9mm in maximum thickness. The strap end weighs 2.45 grams.

The object comprises the distal end of the strap end, it has a semi-circular end and straight sides that terminate in an old worn break. The object is decorated with openwork zoomorphic design, though wear obscures much of the fine detail of the design. The method for securing the strap end to the belt has been lost with the broken terminal. The object has a red-brown patination.
