Complete, fired lead Musket Ball. The musket ball is roughly circular in plan, and has been squashed down which indicates that it has been fired. It has a white/grey patina and a rough, uneven surface. Thought to date to the Post-Medeival period. The musket ball is 22.92mm in diameter, and 10.20mm thick and weighs 26.2g.

Five lead projectiles:
1. Cylindrical with rounded ends (almost a ball). Diameter18.8mm (0.72 inches) Length 18.5mm, Mass 35.90g.
2. Ball, perforated by a 4.1mm diameter hole, Diameter 18.4mm (0.72 inches), Mass 27.3g.
3. Ball, with casting flash around its mould joint and traces of the casting gate. Diameter 15.9mm, (0.63 inches), Mass 20.06g.
4. Ball, 14.8mm (0.58 inches), Mass 17.61g.
5. Bullet, cylindrical with a round noes and a flat base around which is a groove, traces of the marks left by rifling around the edges. Diameter 11.5mm (0.45 inches). Length 15.2mm.

A lead musket ball of Post Medieval date, about AD 1600 - 1800. It is spherical and has a neatly trimmed casting seam and sprue cut with nippers. 12.4mm diameter and 11.62g. The mass suggests it was a pistol ball. It has a grey patina. See Harding, 2012, Lead Shot of the English Civil War; a radical study.

A lead alloy musket ball of possible English Civil War date. It has a partial band of set-up; a flattened area with scoring from the inside of the barrel caused by gasses behind the ball during firing squeezing the ball against the muzzle. The ball also has an impact mark which is a pair of oval depressions flanking a raised ridge, with a projecting area of displaced metal to one side. The ball has a pale yellowish-grey patina. A cast lead double musket shot of post-Medieval to Modern date (c. 1550-c. 1850).
The shot is spherical and has a diameter of 1.9mm. It has a circumferential casting seam aligned with a small integral circular bar that has a diameter of 4.4mm. This protrusion appears to be a bar rather than casting sprue.
One shot and part of the bar are missing due to a break.

An incomplete sub-spherical cast lead shot ‘musket ball’ for a small arms (c. 1550-c. 1850). A circumferential casting seam is visible, except where the ball is damaged (possibly due to impact). Pistols were first used in the 16th century and cast bullets continued in use into the 19th century.
The object has a buff patina and is also corroded in places.
Maximum diameter: 16.1mm; weight: 11.94g.

Complete iron cannon ball of Post Medieval, seventeenth century date (AD 1600 – AD 1700). Diameter 72mm (2 ¾ inches). Weight 1106g. (2lb 6 7/8 ounces).
The ball is spherical and was probably ammunition for a type of field gun known as a falcon (or fawcon).

Complete iron round shot of probable seventeenth century date (AD 1600 - AD 1700). Diameter 39mm. (roughly 1.5 inches). Weight 217.28g. (7.6645 ounces).
The shot is probably ammunition for a long barreled piece known as a culverin or robinet (Blackmore 1976, 391-409). It is slightly pitted and corroded. About 50% of the original surface survives.

Spherical cast lead shot of probable Post Medieval date (AD 1500 - AD 1800). Diameter 32mm (1 1/4 inches). Weight 169.01g. (5.962 ounces). The surface appears to have a number of impact facets, alternatively, the facets may have been created by agricultural activities. One of the facets, however, may have been created following the casting process, when the sprue was removed.
