Both of the shots are essentially spherical, with one end projected out to a conical point and the other to a small, cylindrical projection. This gives the shots a "tear drop"- like appearance Each has six sub rectangular indents running a circumferential band. Both have a cream coloured patina.
The shots weigh 10.24g & 10.16g so were likely intended to be fired from an 18th century pistol.

The shot is sub-spherical, with a small flattened section possibly resulting from the inclusion of the shot in a multiple load. The shot has numerous linear divots and striations across its surface, possibly caused by gas erosion, an effect occurring at the instant of firing an unwadded projectile. No evidence of a casting sprue is readily apparent.
Dimensions: diameter: 24.55mm, weight: 83.04g
The shot is too large for a musket and the finder has suggested that it might have been for a wall gun, which is supported by the dimensions, as they have a calibre of one inch (25.4mm). A wall gun was used as a rampart weapon to defend fortifications. Pecked stone ball of a size apt to be fired by the smaller version of the Minion, which was one of the smaller guns mounted on wheeled carriages to support troops in the field. Stone shot was an early projectile derived from the similar balls made to be lobbed by catapult artillery. It would later be superseded by cast iron shot.
Stone shot was used during the Wars of the Roses (c.1450-1489) along with other projectiles, and by the armies of Henry VIII (1509-1547) and Elizabeth I (1558-1603) – though the English ships which assailed the Great Spanish Armada of 1588 fired iron shot from copper alloy or iron guns - but was outdated by the time of the English Civil War (1639-1651). A Lincolnshire rebellion under Lord Welles was crushed at Empingham, near Stamford, in 1470 by a Yorkist royal force which probably included artillery.
The most likely military context for this particular find is the Lincolnshire Rebellion of 1536, when the well-equipped rebels of the Pilgrimage of Grace were reported to have acquired artillery, and faced down a significantly weaker Royal force sent against them. Crucially for the interpretation of this find, the Lincolnshire rising began on 1 October 1536 at St James' Church, Louth. Early gunpowder weapons were often used by Flemish, German or Italian mercenaries, specialists hired to bolster Royal armies. Suggested date: Late Medieval to Post-Medieval, 1470-1540
Diameter: 58mm/2.3inches, Weight: c.240gmsRecounted by Edward Hall, a pro-Tudor historian and propagandist: "....the King was truly informed that there was a new insurrection made by the northern men, who had assembled themselves into a huge and great army of warlike men, well appointed with captains, horse, armour and artillery, to the number of 40,000 men, who had encamped themselves in Yorkshire''. There is no reason to suppose the Lincolnshire rebels, raised by local leaders but under the same arrangements which applied for Commissions of Array raised by Royal command and meeting at the same marshalling points, were any less formidable a force.Minion2936311470154014NLM2024-02-16T00:00:00ZNLM562672024-02-21T14:10:11Z2024-02-21T15:10:59Z240PAS65D60443001DF058121442441423594253495317LincolnshireEast LindseyRestricted AccessNorth CockeringtonRestricted Accessbands.shops.handy10NLM-609D9BStone11794Knapped/flakedCompleteGoodMEDIEVALx14221LateEarlyPOST MEDIEVALx41047x41047Other chance findReturned to finderNLM-60443D_65d60b226b3b6.jpg1264415images/mforeman/East MidlandsCertain12024-02-21T15:10:59.982Zfinds-11514641151464SWYOR-3600EASHOTPOST MEDIEVALA Post Medieval lead shot; buckshot dating from AD 1600 - 1800.
