A small cast copper alloy medieval (c. 14th century) seal matrix. The handle has fluted sides with six facets and tapers to a rounded suspension loop with a small ridged collar beneath. The dieface is hexagonal, 14.3mm across and heavily corroded. The central device is deeply incised and broadly triangular but unclear, perhaps a facing beast head (c.f HAMP-438EE2) or a small shield. The surrounding legend may read IE SV (SE)(L) DE A. If the abbreviation can be expanded to Je Su Sel de A(mour), then the legends translates as "I am a seal of love".
