A complete cast lead pipe tamper of post-medieval date (c.AD 1620-1900). The Object depicts a figure standing with both arms falling by the side however one is slightly raised. One leg has a more pronounced boot cuff, and the figure is wearing a long coat, the object is heavily worn so all other detail is lost. The figure stands on an oval shaped based. The object has a grey and cream patina and is heavily pitted. Dimensions: Length 40.1mm, Width 14.5mm, Thickness 9.9mm, Weight 9.72g.

The terminal is in the form of a monkey shown in a seated position with thumb in mouth (now broken). The face is stylised with large eyes situated close to the mouth. Two stub like circular shaped ears extend from the upper edge of the head. A post medieval-modern copper alloy pipe tamper, moulded in the form of a horse's leg and hoof dating to c AD 1700 - 1900. The hoof and leg are finely moulded.  The leg is moulded with the leg raised and at the top of the leg, the leg widens to form the tamper.  There is some evidence of corrosion and damage but the object is complete with a dark brown patina.  Cf other examples on the PAS database SWYOR-2FEE08, LVPL989 and SWYOR-7449E3.
