A complete cast copper-alloy end-looped cosmetic pestle dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman period, c. 1-200 AD.  It consists of a flattened sub-circular sectioned rod with one end pointed and the other demonstrating an integrally cast end-loop. It is plain with no decorative elements. It measures 49.38mm in length, 4.53mm in width and 8.95g in weight.  Similar examples can be found on the PAS database (SF-A3D5C7, SF-B6A85B SF-FADE94).

A possible post medieval pestle, dating from AD. c.1600-1800. The pestle is a long bar, widening at one end to a flat and slightly rounded end. At the opposite end there is a widened section which is disc shaped. The pestle is slightly distorted out of shape. It has a bright green patina with patches of red brown. It measures 81.2mm in length, 17.5mm in maximum width, and weighs 57.54g. Similar to  HAMP-636366 and SWYOR-154DC7

One end of this turns upwards slightly and culminates in a small rounded knop, while the other has a flattened, circular loop positioned at a right-angle to the strip. A stone implement of uncertain date, though as a surface find from a garden, it is perhaps likely to fairly modern, or to have been curated, and relocated. It is a cylinder of dense limestone (which reacts when tested with dilute hydrochloric acid) with rounded ends. It has a granular texture with few visible inclusions. The cylinder appears to have been carefully shaped, but there are no visible tool marks. An incomplete late Iron Age, or Roman cast copper alloy centre-looped pestle from a cosmetic grinder set c. 50 BC - 200 AD. The convex grinding rod/face is wedge shaped with the centre grip now perhaps missing it attachment form. The tip of the rod is missing from one end and there is extensive wear to the central area of the rod with a greater degree of erosion in that area. The surface has a mid-green eroded surface. A fine-grained hammerstone or pestle, sub-rectangular in plan and section and ovate in profile. It is slightly wider at its distal end but fits comfortably in the hand however it is held and appears to have been used to exploit several of its surfaces for different purposes. There are three coils to the spiral shell, whose surface is laterally grooved in an exaggerated fashion.
