Roman copper alloy knife handle, 28mm long, 19mm wide and 13mm thick. The fragment is in good condition with a brown patina and weighs 13.09grams. The object is sub rectangular with a small sub rectangular protrusion at one side, which contains a spherical knop at each side with a stylised mouth on the surface in between. The main part has a 'collar', a sub-circular protrusion, at one end. It has two circular depressions, one on each side, at the other. A small copper alloy object, probably some sort of handle. The object is approximately trapezoidal in shape and rectangular in section, although the sides of the object have been rounded off. The wider end of the object has wide moulded rib decoration. There is a large oval perforation through the object. On the base of the object there is a horizontal groove, perhaps where a blade was inserted. There is also a shallow diagonal groove on either side of the oval perforation.
