White metal finger ring. Cast rectangular section band with spurs at either end of the shoulders, which are split to receive a separately made crown-shaped bezel whose six points formerly retained a stone (now lost) with hollow rectangular compartments beside it, again now void though formerly occupied. The numeral 925 in modern style is stamped within the band. The metal is in some places grey but elsewhere retains a high bright shine suggestive of plating. Now squashed with the band reduced to an indented loop. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1850-1900. Length (as found): 26.4mm…

White metal gilt finger ring fragment. Cast fragment of the bezel of a fede or betrothal ring featuring the fingers of two clasped hands, one emerging from a cuff indicated by paired vertical lines. The motif was especially favoured c.1450-1550 but continued in later use. Gilding traces appear on the display side. The use of silver gilt was favoured in the late medieval to early post-medieval period, though the dull surface might equally indicate a lead-rich copper alloy. In view of its possible material and age the object is to be submitted to the Treasure process, ref. TBC.Suggested…

A possibly silver or other white metal finger ring of probable Post Medieval to Modern date, about AD 1500 - 1900, but with insufficient evidence to conclude that the ring is older than AD 1719. The ring is distorted and is cracked across the hoop. It has a D-shaped cross section and becomes thinner and slightly wider at the bezel. It probably had slightly angled shoulders and a flat bezel originally. The rectangular bezel has incised decoration at each side in the form of a transverse line on each side, and beyond it an inward pointing incised chevron, with oblique lines paralle…
