Gold finger ring with square bezel, within which is set a stone. There is a slight reddish tint to the surface but non-destructive X-ray analysis has confirmed that this ring has a gold content of 89-92%, which is the equivalent of 22 carat gold. The stone, which is badly cracked, has been identified by Raman spectroscopy as quartz and could be referred to as a faintly banded agate. The d-section hoop expands at the shoulders, forming an openwork pattern of three prongs, all with geometric decoration. The ring weighs 8.84 grams. Stylistic features date this ring to 19th-20th centuries…

Post-medieval gold posy ring. A very thin flat band inscribed on the interior with 'content is a treasure'. Makers marks seriphed PE in a rectangle. The hoop is slightly squashed. Dimensions: Length: 17 mm; Width: 22 mm; Weight: 1.37 g Discussion: a similar mark recorded in Grimwade (1976, pp. 158), recorded as William Pearson, small worker entered 1704. If it is indeed this maker and if the ring was manufactured in the first eight years of the mark being entered then this ring would fall within the remit of the Treasure Act. Silver finger-ring with hoop of flat D-section with upturned edges. Found in two roughly equal fragments that have been looped together and squeezed into two oval links. On the inner face an upper case inscription after a three-pointed initial mark BE TRVE INTRVE Inscription is likely to be a version of 'Be True In Heart' which occurs on a number of BM rings, e.g. Dalton no. 1130, in various spellings. The design with rim above and below also occurs on other rings of this date. Post-medieval, c. 16th - 17th century.
