It is inscribed to the inside with the motto "TO LIGHT TO REQUITE". Discussion: Posy rings were popular love tokens often used as betrothal or wedding rings. A Post Medieval silver gilt finger ring dating from 1500 - 1700 AD. The band is rectangular in section and has split at one point. The outer face is decorated with beaded borders, each flanked by raised lines. The plain band in the centre is inscribed: " + DYE x TO x LIVE * " in seriffed capital letters. On the inside of the hoop is a maker's mark which is a recessed square containing letters in relief. These may be interpreted as an R back to back with a reversed R (ЯR) when read one way up, or a lombardic and ligated EF from another angle. The internal diameter is 18.2mm.

A gold posy ring. The hoop is D shaped in section. The outer face is plain, but the inside is inscribed "Be Constant and kind" in italic, mainly lower case letters with a long S. There are traces of black enamel in the incised letters.
Compare to GLO-195C52 (Treasure case 2007 T333).
In absence of a maker's mark this ring cannot be dated to pre-1711, and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

A copper-alloy finger-ring that probably dates from the post-medieval period. It is D-shaped in cross-section and the ring has been bent into an oval shape. The ring was constructed from a straight strip that was bent into a loop and soldered; brass shows through the patina in places, and the silver-coloured solder at the join is visible. It has a length of 27.5mm, width of 16.1mm, and thickness of 2.3mm; it weighs 3.52g. A more decorative example of the same kind of finger-ring is LON-AAC537; they probably date from c. 1600 to c. 1800.

A Late Medieval or Early Post Medieval finger-ring of massive proportions with fluted shoulders terminating in a circular bezel. The bezel has a beaded border and is engraved with a monogram that served as a signet. The monogram is formed of the letters "b" and "i", the "i" composed of double strokes and probably signifies the initials of the original owner.*
Discussion: The finger-ring is silver and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth century.
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the…

A silver finger ring, perhaps a signet ring, but with the cartouche on the bezel not engraved. It probably dates from the 19th century. The silver ring and bezel are made in one piece. The bezel is square and the shoulders each have two steps, stepped in width and height. The bezel is decorated with an oval panel or cartouche deliniated with engraved zig-zag lines, the oval reaching from corner to corner. The space within this oval is blank, but the outer areas are filled with wide, straight incised lines. There are no maker's marks on the hoop, but the reverse of the bezel is marked …

Report on potential Treasure for H M Coroner
Treasure Number: 2015 T516
Description: Gold ring with circular bezel, decorated with wirework heart above a V shape, the V filled in with enamel, a thin hoop, the shoulders decorated with horizontal engraved lines where they join the bezel.
Dimensions:
Diameter: 25.29mm
Width: 1.59-7.83mm
Thickness: 0.95mm

A complete gold finger ring of probably Post Medieval to Modern date consisting of a simple hoop with a D shaped section. The outer face is decorated with six pairs of transverse grooves which are V shaped in section. The inner face is bevelled along one edge. There are no maker's marks or hallmarks making the ring very difficult to date.
Discussion: This finger ring is fairly undiagnostic though a Post Medieval to Modern date seems most likely. It is impossible to certify that it was deposited prior to 1712 as stipulated in the 1996 Treasure Act, thus it should not be regarded as T…

A gold finger ring with no decoration or hallmarks. The band is slightly D-shaped in cross-section and has suffered some damage. It is unclear what date this ring is, however a post-medieval to modern date might be appropriate. The lack of hall marks may suggest it is foreign. The finger ring is undiagnostic in terms of date and therefore cannot be classified as treasure under the 1996 Treasure Act.

Treasure case: 2012 T53
Description: Post-Medieval gold plated finger-ring. Exterior of ring is decorated with three horizontal rows of bosses, interior plain.
Discussion: This is a puzzling ring for which we have found no parallels. The closest example in the British Museum collections is 1956,1014.1, which has diagonal rows of bosses creating a similar effect with a double row of capital letter inscription in English on the interior, the lettering consistent with a dating of 16th - 17th century. However the structure of this ring is different, it appears to be a layer of gold o…

Description: A complete 16th or 17th century gold finger ring. The ring is cast so that the hoop is formed from sixteen domes or hemispheres, i.e. it has a semicircular section. One dome is elongated and probably acted as the bezel. The inner surface of the hoop is inscribed with the legend " * ALWAYES ONE >>>".
Discussion: The ring can be compared to ESS-EDA7E6 (Treasure case 2004 T353: dated 16th - 17th century) which is of similar design, but with a different legend.
