Copper alloy finger ring, probably medieval in date.
The outside surface of the ring is decorated with lines which make a zig-zag pattern and a dot in each triangle. The inside surface is plain and smooth. It is D-shaped in section. The ring has been cast but the decoration appears to have been added after casting. Cast copper alloy finger rings were found in London dating to the medieval period (Egan and Pritchard; 1991; 331-2).

Roman or Early Medieval copper-alloy finger ring, possibly created as a reuse of an earlier object. The ring consists of a flat band of metal which has been bent round to form a ring. The two ends of the band do not meet, leaving a small gap in the circle of the ring. One end of the band of metal tapers and curves to a pointed terminal but the other end is rather crudely cut off square across the band. This indicates that the band may originally have been longer and therefore part of a different object such as, for example, a narrow bangle. The band is decorated with an incised line ru…

Description of Find
The ring is substantially gold and consists of a broad, punch-decorated band tapering sharply at each end to wire terminals which were originally twisted together; width, 26 mm. On either side of a very worn, beaded median rib the ring is decorated with two rows of interlocking punched triangles with triple pellets in each. The bezel has a conical indentation for the setting. It is similar to 1608 and 1609 from London (Egan and Pritchard 1991). Because of their shape, these rings are known as stirrup rings and were popular from the middle of the 12th century until at least the middle of the 15th (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 326).

A Medieval finger-ring made from a length of twisted wire, which has been hammered together at the back to form a hoop. The ring is of a type known from Viking and Anglo-Saxon contexts, which persist into the twelfth century, see the Larkhill hoard at the British Museum for a similar example (P&E 1854, 0820.6). This example is much inferior to the Larkhill ring. However it would appear to be of comparable age.
The ring is silver, and dates from the twelfth century.

A copper alloy finger ring fragment which is probably post medieval in date. It is 22.7mm long, 13.2mm wide and 3.7mm thick. The object is a little less than half of a finger ring with the bezel and shoulders surviving. The hoop is broken and the breaks appear to be old. The bezel is rectangular and has an oval hollow in it for the setting which is missing, though much white paste, presumably the glue, does survive. The hoop widens towards the bezel and there is a rectangular stop on each side of the bezel. This design suggests the post medieval date as it is not something commonly see…

Solid cast copper alloy penannular loop with tapered ends and a gilded surface. The item was probably intended for use as a finger ring but other possibilities include Roman to Early Medieval earring or pendant although these are less favoured due to the fact that the surface gilding, which extends to the ends, would have been impractical. Similarly shaped and sized objects have been primarily dated to the earlier medieval period including LIN-82FB84 and Treasure item no.87 in the 2004 Annual Treasure report. Early Medival finds Advisor Helen Geake has however pointed out that none …

A copper-alloy complete medieval circa 15th century signet finger ring. Measuring 24.57mm externally and 20.53mm internally. The hoop is worn, especially at its back and has a D-shaped section. It flares into shoulders and an oval bezel, this is very worn on one edge and has the remains of an inscribed crowned letter W, persumably the initial of the finger rings owner.

A Post Medieval gold finger ring - memento mori (1670-1740). The plain thin gold band is engraved on the exterior with a skull and inscribed inside in lower case: 'Remember to dye', with a maker's mark GB in a quatrefoil shield with a pellet above and below. This type of ring had a long life from around 1670 to the 1730s, but as the mark is not listed in the standard London goldsmiths' marks sources, it is not possible to confirm a pre-1708 date for this ring.
