Copper-alloy finger-ring, circular internally and gently octagonally facetted externally, 17 mm internal diameter, 20 mm external diameter and 4 mm wide. No decoration or inscription is visible internally or externally, and no seam is visible. Such a plain ring is hard to date with certainty, but it is unlike published examples of medieval rings and so I think that a post-medieval date is likely.

Description: Complete silver finger ring now squashed flat and with a much damaged outer face. The hoop has a rectangular section. Its outer face is decorated with borders consisting of tiny diagonal grooves and within these there are stars and crosses and possibly foliate motifs. The word 'MIZ[P]AH' is also visible in relief on the exterior of the band. Unfortunately most of the original design is now destroyed by deep grooves and scratches, perhaps caused by damage whilst in the plough soil. Dimensions: Diameter: 27.74mm (as squashed flat) Height: 7.81mm (of hoop) Thickn…

A copper-alloy finger ring of probable Post-Medieval date. It has a plain band that is D-shaped in section and expands towards the bezel. The bezel itself is rectangular in form with vertical grooves to either side at the shoulders. It is decorated on its front face with an incised motif, perhaps intended to be a six-pointed star or similar. The entire object has very worn surfaces with only traces of a dark green patina visible in places. It measures 20.11mm in diameter, 4.95mm in height, 2.02mm in thickness (at bezel) and 2.10g in weight. This is a finger ring of probable Post-Medie…

Copper-alloy mourning ring, with a pale turquoise facetted glass setting and enamelled decoration. The hoop is circular, 22 mm wide externally, and flares from 2 mm wide opposite the setting to 3 mm wide at the shoulders. The shoulders are decorated from about halfway around the hoop, with criss-cross grooves filled with black enamel. The grooves do not cross at right angles nor are they aligned with the axis of the hoop; instead they radiate slightly but elegantly from a point rather off the hoop, which gives an almost twisting effect when seen from the front. The bezel is oval, 10…

Large gilded silver finger-ring with worn relief decoration. The ring is D-shaped in section and has no bezel; the exterior face has broad diagonal grooves flanked by narrow grooves, which divide the ring into panels. Alternate panels are slightly wider and slightly narrower; the slightly wider ones are filled with seven longitudinal rows of small punched circles, and the slightly narrower ones have a single diagonal band of stamped squares with a V-shaped nick out of the centre of each side, giving the effect of X shapes. The external diameter is 24 mm, the internal diameter 20 mm. T…

The ring bezel is an oval shape which has six protrusions surrounding an oval shaped cell of the bezel. This cell has an oval shaped hole in the base. The six protrusions would have held a possible stone/gem in place. The shoulders of the ring taper towards the loop with no decoration. The loop is circular and semi-circular in section.
