A Probable Post-Medieval copper alloy ring, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1800. The ring consists of a plano-convex sectioned loop, with a circumferential band of punched dots around either edge. Diameter: 25.20mm, thickness: 2.20mm, weight: 3.08g. It is difficult to parallel such an undiagnostic object, but a post-medieval date seems most likely.

A post medieval white metal finger ring with "posy" inscription. The finger ring does not appear to be definitively silver and may well be a compound but it could still have a high base silver content. The ring is D-shaped in cross-section with a convex outer face. The inner face exhibits the inscription "CHOS NOT TO CHANG" in Roman capitals. There appear to be traces of gilding remaining on the interior. The diameter is 22mm and the weight 3.49g. In general Roman capitals began to be used for inscriptions on posy rings from the mid 16th century and were replaced by Italics by th…

Description: Complete post-medieval silver finger ring with cross-hatched decoration. The band is flat, tapering slightly from the front to the back of the ring. The widest part of the ring is decorated with two incised panels in the form of parallel elongated rectangles, filled with a cross-hatched pattern. These take up about a quarter of the circumference of the hoop. Parts of the band have flaked away at the back, revealing the overlap where the two ends of the sheet were joined to form a ring. The whole ring is warped, with one side slightly twisted. Dimensions: The rin…
