An incomplete cast copper alloy finger ring, probably post-medieval in date. The ring has a split bezel. The hoop has a D-shaped section which expands into a flattened, triangular terminal. Only one terminal survives as the other has broken off. The flat end of the surviving terminal indicates that the bezel must have been split, as it does not attach to the other terminal. The terminal has been decorated with a stamped design, which comprises a raised line down the centre with arches either side with a pellet in each field. The decoration appears to continue around the hoop, but i…

A complete cast copper-alloy finger ring, probably post-medieval in date – it is also possible that this ring is Roman in date, but the original surface has been cleaned off, so it is not possible to say for certain. The hoop has a rectangular section which expands into flaring shoulders, which in turn expand into a rectangular bezel. The bezel is undecorated but either side of the bezel has been incised with two parallel lines.

A cast copper alloy finger ring, with a thin D-shaped section. There are no markings on the interior of the finger ring. The exterior is decorated with two shallow arrises and a continous series of incised vertical lines. The joint is unclear, as the ring is badly damaged and distored. The copper alloy is a dark greenish-brown colour. This ring may date to the post-medieval period, circa 1600 – 1850. But it might also be medieval or Roman.

A fragment of a finger ring with part of the hoop and a diamond-shaped bezel, which is moulded onto the hoop. There is geometric-style decoration on the band. This is undiagnostic and can not be securely dated to pre-1706 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

A 19th Century gold finger ring. It is definitely 19th Century due to its shape and decoration. The ring survives intact, but has lost some of it decoration. The hoop is distorted. The shoulders are decorated with depressed cells, which terminate half way around the loop with an inwards pointing triangle. This cell continues around the bezel and encapsulates the bezel itself. Traces of black enamel remain and judging by the rough surface of the cell it would appear that this enamel would have extended across the entire area. The depressed cell also gives the bezel the appearance of h…

A gold finger ring with a D-shaped section, no joint is evident in the hoop of the ring. The exterior of the hoop has been decorated with an elaborate floral design, with scrolling foliage and flowers. Inside some of the angles a trace amount of a black substance can be seen, it is therefore possible that the finger ring may have been enameled with black enamel. The edges of the hoop have a slightly raised rim. The interior of the hoop is inscribed with serifed capitals DESIRE.HATH.NO.RESTE. The stops are formed from small crosses. The area between the beginning and the end of the ins…
